Kerala-based startup Genrobotics has once again made headlines by securing a prestigious position among the top three Artificial Intelligence (AI) startups in India at the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023. Hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in New Delhi from December 12-14, the summit recognized Genrobotics for its groundbreaking AI technology in the healthcare sector.
Recognition at GPAI Summit 2023
Genrobotics clinched the award in the ‘AI Game Changers’ category at the summit, where its G-gaiter Robotic Technology was acknowledged for its transformative impact on healthcare. The summit, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, provided a platform to showcase innovations in AI that contribute to social change and address critical healthcare challenges.
S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT, presented the award to Afsal Muttikkal, Regional Director, Genrobotics Medical and Mobility, and Arun Dominic, Regional Business Development Manager. Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT, was also present during the award ceremony.
G Gaiter: An AI-Powered Robotic Gait Trainer
Genrobotics received recognition for its outstanding innovation in healthcare through the development of G Gaiter, an advanced AI-powered robotic gait trainer. G Gaiter serves as a revolutionary tool in the rehabilitation of individuals who have lost mobility due to various conditions such as stroke, spinal injury, accidents, Parkinson’s disease, and more.
The technology behind G Gaiter enables it to train people to recover faster with minimal dependency on others. This is particularly crucial for individuals facing mobility challenges, as the robotic gait trainer offers personalized and effective rehabilitation support.
Awards and Collaborations
This isn’t the first accolade for Genrobotics and its G Gaiter technology. The startup previously secured the Medicall Made in India Innovation 2023 Golden Award for G Gaiter in July of the same year. The technology’s efficacy in healthcare innovation has garnered attention and acclaim.
Genrobotics is actively collaborating with major hospital chains in India, including Aster, to deploy G Gaiter in their Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation departments. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, the national regulator for medical devices, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, has approved the technology, further affirming its credibility and adherence to regulatory standards.
The deployment of G Gaiter at the General Hospital in Kerala marks a significant milestone, making it the first government hospital in the country to adopt this innovative technology. With plans to extend its reach to medical college hospitals in Kozhikode, Thrissur, and Kottayam, Genrobotics is set to make a lasting impact on the healthcare landscape.
In essence, Genrobotics exemplifies how AI and robotics can converge to create solutions that not only address medical challenges but also significantly enhance the quality of life for individuals facing mobility issues. As Genrobotics continues to pioneer innovation in healthcare, its G Gaiter technology stands as a testament to the transformative power of AI in shaping the future of medical rehabilitation.
