ElevenLabs, the London-based AI voice startup, has reached a $22 billion valuation after it closed a $300 million employee tender offer. The new value is twice the $11 billion valuation the company received in its February 2026 funding round.

The company announced the latest deal on September 30, 2026, and the news has become one of the major startup stories in the October 1 news cycle. The deal shows how fast demand for voice-based AI has grown in a short time.

The latest transaction is different from a normal funding round. ElevenLabs did not raise $300 million in fresh company capital through this deal. Instead, employees and existing shareholders sold part of their shares to investors. This gave some early holders a chance to turn part of their shares into cash while new and existing investors gained a stake in the company.

The deal was led by Wellington and T. Rowe Price. Existing investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed also took part. New investors include EQT and Goldman Sachs, among others.

From $9 Million to $22 Billion

The rise in ElevenLabs’ value is striking when viewed against its short history.

The company was founded in 2022 by Mati Staniszewski and Piotr Dabkowski. In its early days, ElevenLabs raised its first round at a valuation of only $9 million. At that time, the company focused on its first text-to-speech model.

Four years later, the company has reached a valuation of $22 billion.

The latest value is also twice the $11 billion figure from February 2026. In that month, ElevenLabs raised $500 million in Series D funding at an $11 billion valuation.

This means the company’s reported valuation has doubled in less than a year. The jump also shows the huge interest that investors now have in AI agents that can interact with people through voice.

What ElevenLabs Actually Does

ElevenLabs first became known for its AI voice technology. Its tools can turn written text into natural-sounding speech. The company has also built systems that can listen, speak, and translate.

Its newer products go beyond simple text-to-speech tools.

The company now offers AI agents that can talk with people and also connect with business systems. These agents can handle tasks such as customer support, refunds, insurance renewals, and appointment bookings.

This change has helped ElevenLabs move from a voice technology company toward a broader AI platform.

The company says its agents now handle more than 15 million conversations each week. That figure is three times the level from February 2026.

For ElevenLabs, this growth is important because it shows that customers are not using voice AI only for experiments. Businesses now use the technology for real customer and business tasks.

Voice AI Finds a Bigger Role

For many people, AI is still linked with chatbots that answer questions through text. ElevenLabs is part of a larger shift toward AI systems that can talk to people in a more natural way.

A voice agent can answer a call, understand what a person says, provide information, and take an action. In some cases, it can also connect with a company’s internal systems.

For example, an insurance company could use a voice agent to help a customer renew a policy. A company could use the same type of system to deal with customer questions. A service business could use it to book appointments.

This type of use can save staff time and allow businesses to deal with a larger number of routine requests.

ElevenLabs says its technology is now used by enterprises and governments in many parts of the world. Its agents can speak and translate in more than 90 languages, which gives the company access to a very large global market.

More Than 15 Million Weekly Conversations

One of the clearest signs of ElevenLabs’ growth is its conversation volume.

The company’s AI agents now handle more than 15 million conversations every week. This is three times the figure reported in February.

That rise has happened in only a few months.

The increase matters because voice AI needs large amounts of real-world use to improve. Each customer interaction can give a company more information about what works and what needs change.

ElevenLabs says its platform supports tasks across sales, support, and other business operations. Customers can connect the agents to their own knowledge and systems.

The company’s own data says enterprise customers now account for 55% of its revenue. This is another major change from its early days as a voice generation startup.

Major Companies Are Using the Platform

ElevenLabs has attracted customers across several industries.

The company says organizations such as Stripe, Deutsche Telekom, DoorDash’s SevenRooms, Admiral, Customers Bank, and Cadence have rolled out ElevenAgents.

Governments in Ukraine and Greece have also used the platform.

ElevenLabs says its technology is now used in the daily operations of five of the world’s ten largest technology companies, five of the ten largest insurers, and four of the ten largest telecom companies. These figures come from the company itself.

Such customers can give ElevenLabs a strong base for future growth. Large companies often have millions of customer interactions each year, so even a small share of that work can create substantial demand for AI voice tools.

Why the Tender Offer Matters

A tender offer works differently from a standard funding round.

In a normal funding deal, investors put new money into a company. The company then uses that capital for areas such as product development, hiring, research, or expansion.

In this case, the $300 million transaction mainly allowed employees and existing shareholders to sell shares.

That means ElevenLabs did not receive the full $300 million as new cash for company use. Instead, the deal created liquidity for people who already owned shares.

This type of transaction can also help private startups retain employees. Staff members can gain some financial value from their shares without having to wait for an IPO or a company sale.

Reuters reported that the tender offer provided liquidity to employees and existing shareholders without necessarily raising new company capital.

Big Investors Join the Company

The latest deal also brought several large financial names into ElevenLabs.

Wellington and T. Rowe Price led the transaction. Existing investors such as Andreessen Horowitz and Lightspeed also took part.

New investors include EQT and Goldman Sachs. The company’s announcement also lists GIC, OTPP, Sapphire Ventures, and BDT & MSD among investors that took part for the first time.

The presence of these investors adds another layer to the story. ElevenLabs is no longer a small early-stage AI company. It has reached a scale where large institutional investors have taken an interest in its future.

The company now has to prove that its fast rise can continue as competition in AI voice and AI agents grows.

The February Funding Round

The latest valuation also has a direct link to ElevenLabs’ February funding round.

In February 2026, the company raised $500 million in Series D funding at an $11 billion valuation.

That round gave ElevenLabs a much higher value than its earlier rounds. Less than a year later, the latest tender offer has placed the company at $22 billion.

The change is large, but it also comes during a period of strong investment in AI agents.

Many businesses are looking for AI tools that can handle routine tasks. Customer service is one of the clearest areas because companies receive a large number of repeated requests every day.

Voice agents can offer another way to handle that work. Instead of asking customers to type questions into a chat window, businesses can allow them to speak naturally.

The Company Is Building More Than a Voice Model

ElevenLabs’ current strategy is broader than voice generation.

The company says it has built a full interaction platform for AI. Its system allows organizations to create conversational agents that can connect to their knowledge and business systems.

This means the company wants its technology to become part of business operations rather than remain a tool for voice creation alone.

The firm has also released new versions of its text-to-speech technology. It says Eleven v4 and v4 Turbo are its fastest and most expressive models so far.

By controlling its own models and infrastructure, the company says it can improve the technology and deliver those changes to customers quickly.

A Global Market

Language is another important part of the ElevenLabs story.

The company says its models can speak, listen, and translate in more than 90 languages. Those languages are used by more than 5.5 billion people, according to ElevenLabs.

This gives the startup a potential market far beyond English-speaking countries.

A global business can use the same platform to serve customers in different languages. Governments can also use voice systems to reach people who may not prefer English or text-based services.

For ElevenLabs, this global reach may help it compete with other companies that are also building AI agents.

The Role of Enterprise Customers

Enterprise customers have become a central part of the company’s business.

ElevenLabs says enterprise clients now account for 55% of its revenue. That is a notable shift because large organizations can provide long-term contracts and large volumes of use.

The company has said that businesses and governments are adopting expressive voice agents for customer and citizen services.

The use of AI agents can also change how companies handle routine work. Instead of assigning staff to every basic request, a business can use an AI system for common tasks and allow human workers to focus on cases that need more attention.

The exact savings will differ from company to company. ElevenLabs’ reported growth shows that businesses are at least testing and adopting this model at a larger scale.

What Comes Next for ElevenLabs

The new $22 billion valuation puts ElevenLabs at a new stage.

The company has moved from a young voice AI startup to a large private AI business with hundreds of millions of dollars in funding, major investors, global customers, and millions of weekly AI conversations.

Its next challenge will be to keep that growth on track.

Competition in AI is intense. Many large technology companies are building voice models, AI agents, and customer service tools. Startups also continue to enter the market with focused products.

ElevenLabs will need to keep its voice quality high while also making its agents useful, reliable, secure, and easy for businesses to use.

A Fast Rise in AI

The ElevenLabs story reflects a larger change in the AI market.

AI is no longer limited to tools that create text, images, or code. Companies now want AI systems that can communicate with customers and take action on their behalf.

Voice can make these systems feel more natural because people already know how to speak during a phone call.

ElevenLabs is trying to use that familiar form of communication as the base for a much larger AI platform.

Its jump from a $9 million valuation in 2022 to $22 billion in 2026 shows how quickly investor interest has grown around this idea.

The latest $300 million tender offer does not give the company $300 million of new operating cash, but it does provide liquidity for employees and shareholders while bringing more major investors into the business.

For ElevenLabs, the new $22 billion valuation is a major milestone. For the wider startup market, it is another sign that investors see voice AI and AI agents as important parts of the next phase of artificial intelligence.
