The Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission, known as StartupTN, is set to launch ‘Startup Thamizha,’ a Tamil startup reality show, with the goal of fostering an entrepreneurial culture among the state’s youth and providing a broader platform for innovation. Internationally and at the national level, shows like Shark Tank have played a pivotal role in raising awareness about the startup ecosystem and making entrepreneurship a part of mainstream culture. ‘Startup Thamizha’ aspires to have a similar impact within the state of Tamil Nadu.
Structured as a reality television program, ‘Startup Thamizha’ will connect selected startups with active investors while increasing awareness about the startup landscape in the state. StartupTN conducted a public tender process to select producers and creative teams to oversee the show, which will soon have a formal debut on a prominent television channel.
The specifics of the investor panel, show format, and application procedures will be revealed at the formal launch. It has been disclosed that the investor panel will consist of prominent angel investors and business executives from the state. Additionally, investment opportunities will be extended beyond the investor panel to include a wider group of individuals.
Sivarajah Ramanathan, the mission director and CEO of StartupTN, emphasized that ‘Startup Thamizha’ aims to instill a cultural shift in the minds of innovators, encouraging them to become employers by leveraging available resources. The show also seeks to inspire innovators and aspirants to take calculated risks and overcome the fear of failure. Furthermore, it will shed light on new-age investment opportunities, making potential investors aware of novel avenues for investment.
