Lemurian Labs announced a major milestone today as the company secured $28 million in an oversubscribed Series A round, including capital converted from earlier raised securities. The company continues to push toward a bold mission: reinvent the software foundation of artificial intelligence. Lemurian’s team believes the world cannot scale AI responsibly or affordably on today’s fragmented, vendor-locked systems, so the company has built a universal, software-centric platform that runs AI workloads efficiently on any hardware, at any scale.

This fresh investment strengthens that mission. Pebblebed Ventures and Hexagon co-led the round, and a wide coalition of investors—including Oval Park Capital, Origin Ventures, Blackhorn Ventures, Uncorrelated Ventures and others—joined them. Industry veterans from NVIDIA, Qualcomm, IBM, Intel and Sun Microsystems now steer Lemurian Labs, giving the company a rare mix of deep technical experience and bold architectural vision.

Rebuilding AI Infrastructure from the Ground Up

AI development keeps accelerating, but traditional computing infrastructure struggles to keep up. For decades, chip manufacturers delivered performance gains through faster processors. Developers often gained speed “for free,” because better hardware solved many software inefficiencies. That era has ended.
